Festival of Lights Tour

Don’t miss this trip!  It is a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit and view the sights of the City all lit up for the season.  We will start the evening with dinner at Lefty’s Ballpark Buffet.  Lefty’s Buffet has proudly fed San Francisco and guests for 30+ years. This all you can eat buffet takes your average ho-hum buffet experience and really cranks it up, combining the variety of a traditional buffet with the atmosphere of a fine dining restaurant–not to mention the sky-high baseball murals that surround you. While there are 60 dishes to choose from, some favorites are Lefty’s family recipe of spaghetti and meatballs, Guinness-braised short ribs, fresh salads, prime rib and other hand-carved meats, as well as a taco bar. What really tops everything off is the dessert station!  Non alcoholic drink included with dinner.  Our tour guide, Don Stace will meet us at the restaurant & then after dinner we will start our Festival of Lights Tour which will include favorite locations such as the Fairmont, Union Square and the Palace.  Don will be researching new displays as they pop up during the season. Memory Screening

Memory Screening

Who should be screened?

Memory screening makes sense for anyone concerned about memory loss.  Screenings are also appropriate for anyone         who does not have a concern right now, but who wants to see how their memory is now and for future comparison.

What is memory screening?

Memory screening is as simple as a few short activities with a geriatric professional.  How you do with the activities is not a diagnosis and in no way does it replace consultation with a qualified health professional, but it may lead to a thoughtful conversation about “next steps.”  You have time to discuss your concerns with a professional.  The screenings are individual half-hour sessions just between you and a professional.

Why screen now?  Why not? It’s never too early (or too late) to make lifestyle changes that can affect your overall health:  Nutrition – eat lean protein, fruits, vegetables, foods high in omega 3-fatty acids and antioxidants

Socialization – call a family member, visit a friend, join an organization, volunteer

Mental Stimulation – read out loud, problem solve, play a game

Spirituality – pray, meditate, go to a place of worship

Physical Activity – walk, dance, garden

Memory Screenings are a national initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.  In our community, Senior Access, Senior Helpers, Care Navigate and the Goldenaires are working together to bring this initiative to you.

Reservations required, call Goldenaire’s office at 415-485-3348.
