Filoli, also known as the Bourn-Roth Estate, is a country house set in 16 acres of formal gardens surrounded by a 654-acre estate, located in Woodside, California, about 25 miles south of San Francisco, at the southern end of Crystal Springs Reservoir, on the eastern slope of the Santa Cruz Mountains. In 1975, the residence was donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. THERE IS PLENTY OF WALKING ON THIS TOUR, BUT AT A CASUAL PACE-benches also along the walkways. The month of May will be filled with roses, camellias, daffodils, irises, peonies, cutting garden, lavender and maybe some wisteria and magnolia. Upon our arrival (10:30AM), we will be met by a speaker that will give a five (5) minute orientation on the history of the property and stories of the families that lived here. With admission, you will have access to a self-guided tour of the home, gardens, hiking trails, cafe and gift shop. We will have a HOSTED box lunch at Filoli at 1:00pm. Menu: 1) Chicken Garden Salad (GF) 2) Pastrami Sandwich w/Swiss Cheese on Marble Ry 3) Turkey Sandwich on Whole Wheat Bread. Each lunch is served with chips, cookie & canned beverage. You may enjoy your meal at the picnic site outside the Café. We will depart Filoli at 2:30pm (plenty of time to visit the gift shop after lunch).
